I specialize in downtown. I work with buyers and sellers and enjoy both equally. I know EVERY co-op and condo below 23rd Street and every townhouse in Greenwich Village. I follow the market very carefully and at any time I know every listing below 23rd Street that is on the market priced above $2M. To date I have sold almost $300 million of Manhattan real estate.
I have been selling lofts since 1984. When I first started selling lofts they were mainly located in Soho. Many were selling for $100 a square foot and most were owned by artists. Compare this with the most expensive lofts, which in the recent past were trading for over $4,000 per square foot. In some buildings, even though buyers were paying $1,400 a square foot, they still had to put their own garbage on the sidewalk!
I have sold many townhouses and understand all the intricacies involved from changing the Certificate of Occupancy to clearing the outstanding violations that often accompany old houses. I know when a house is well-priced and I can see it's potential. I recently brought such a house to the attention of one of my buyers, and was able to sell the house for them two years later for twice what they paid.
Many years ago, when my daughters were five and six years old, we moved from a seven-bedroom house in New Haven to Manhattan. I quickly learned to adjust my lifestyle and I found out what was important to make a happy home and how to ease the transition for my family. I learned all about the schools (public and private) and soon knew all the Downtown parks and playgrounds. I know where all the best food and specialty stores are, and can ease the anxiety of a relocating family.

If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well. I have applied that maxim to everything I do in life and real estate is no exception. When I started in this business 25 years ago, I was excited to view all the downtown properties that were for sale. That excitement has never left me. I bicycle everywhere and try to view every property in the price range in which I specialize. And because I have typically already seen all available properties, I can quickly identify which properties will work for my buyers. This saves a huge amount of frustration and wasted time. Most of my buyers are surprised to find how enjoyable finding a home can be.
