Agent's personal statement

Having been born and raised in Manhattan, and because my entire family lives here, to me, New York isn’t simply the greatest city in the world – it is home. I’ve seen the ups and downs the city has gone through, and I having worked as a real estate agent since 1985, I have worked through many different real estate cycles. I actually started in a down cycle but managed to nonetheless succeed. That experience taught me the most important lesson in real estate: location, location, location.

 

Prior to working in real estate, I worked in my family’s food importing business which provided me with a good business background and a keen sense of the bottom line. While buying a home is an emotional investment, I recognize that it is also a financial one. That is why I make sure my clients are making good decisions. In addition, I studied architecture and art in school, so I have a strong aesthetic sense and can quickly hone in on people’s likes and dislikes. I also know that small changes (a door here, a change in lighting there) can make a huge difference in how an apartment shows. I rely on my keen sense of space when “staging” my clients’ homes because my job is to help my clients to achieve the absolute highest price for their home.

 

Throughout my nearly 30 year career, I have worked with clients from all walks of life, from first-time buyers to major celebrities. I have loved working with them all and still do.

During my search for an apartment, John was extremely knowledgeable about different neighborhoods as well as many different buildings and the apartment layouts within them. His knowledge was like an encyclopedia. Ultimately, he found me a great home, and I would use him for any additional transaction I do. I've recommend him to numerous friends, and John has worked with at least five of them, all of which had successful transactions, as far as I know.

My experience with John, both on the buy and sell, was excellent. John had a thorough understanding of my needs. His knowledge of the market, the inventory, and the specific buildings was extremely helpful. He listened carefully to my needs and did not waste my time. He showed only properties and buildings that were financially sound and that fit my objectives. Importantly, John opened my eyes to the possibility of co-op ownership - even though I am a foreign national. He has a thorough knowledge of which co-ops accept foreign buyers. This widened my choices immensely. I think John's success is based on his devotion to helping his clients make the right choice: he clarifies individual needs and shows more options as to how his clients can achieve their objectives. John truly understands the real estate market as well as financial and cultural considerations.

I'm a repeat customer with John, so my experiences with him have obviously been very satisfactory. I'd strongly recommend him to anyone looking in the middle- to upper-range of apartments, because I know he's extremely knowledgeable in that area. His knowledge of the market is what makes him stand out among other agents, and because of this, I frankly don't think I'd consider using another agent. John is also a very trustworthy, honorable, and honest guy. He's easy to work with, and an all-around great broker.

John is fantastic. I've never met such an accommodating, knowledgeable broker. The whole time he helped me purchase my home, he was informative and patient. He really knows the neighborhoods and buildings that he works with, even down to the specific requirements of each co-op Board. John's approach to real estate is that it's not about making a sale, but it's about him finding a match for his client. I've already recommended John to friends, and I would definitely do so again.
